The Unicorn UAV platform is an inexpensive, durable air vehicle for UAV research and development. It provides a robust platform to test Kestrel autopilot operation, integration, software algorithms and the use of various components and sensors. Coupled with the Kestrel™ Autopilot and Virtual Cockpit™ ground control software, it has proven to be a reliable research and test platform as well as an effective end-user training tool. It can be outfitted with small, forward-looking and side-looking video cameras as well as a small gimbal camera for aerial surveillance. The Unicorn, made of EPP foam, is an easy-to-use complement to the power and simplicity of the Virtual Cockpit and Kestrel Autopilot, which allows multiple air vehicles to be flown at the same time from the same ground control station.
